The Piccolo variable speed generator features high efficiency, silent and virtually vibration-free operation, and a compact design that allows it to be installed in the smallest of spaces (only minor air ventilation is needed).
The Piccolo generator is a combination of a diesel engine with integrated alternator and an inverter, hence the name Genverter. Key feature of this technology is the quality of the output combined with the surge power capability. Within a certain window of the rotating speed of the diesel engine, the PMG delivers the correct power quality to operate comfort equipment, such as refrigerators, washing machines, air- conditioning, electrical cooking devices and various other AC appliances.
Instead of adding a fixed-speed alternator to the flywheel, WhisperPower has designed a very compact permanent magnet (PM) alternator, located just below the engine. As a result, the Piccolo 4 genset is also more compact and lighter than traditional gensets in its class.
